Perfect Fried Dough or what we call “Mekici” in Bulgaria

This is one is very popular back home and we eat them for breakfast, yes you read that right! My kids are also obsessed with them and request them quite often! Often times we fill them up with eggs and feta before frying. You can top them with powdered sugar, honey, jam, cream cheese etc. My favorite way is sweet and savory- I go with feta and honey/strawberry jam!

Ingredients
  

  • Pizza Dough Please LINK my pizza dough
  • Flour To sprinkle on the surface
  • Frying oil
  • Toppings of choice

Instructions
 

  • Grab your room temp pizza dough (LINK) and roll it over a floured surface; cut it into pieces (any size and shape of choice
  • Add a drop of olive oil and stretch
  • Deep fry at around 350 F in sunflower oil until golden on both sides
  • Enjoy with your favorite accompaniments!
